How many worlds of welfare state attitudes are there? European experiences in a comparative perspective of cross-national survey research

چکیده

The shape and scope of the welfare state in individual countries have been under consideration since late 1970s. However, publication Three Worlds Welfare Capitalism (1990), discussions framed by Esping-Andersen proposal, which has had an enormous impact on research regarding regimes. This article aims to determine how many worlds can be distinguished European context. empirical analysis is based newest data about attitudes, taken from Social Survey Round 8. An extended typology Gøsta was used formulate our hypotheses, include Mediterranean post-socialist as separate models. conclusions obtained a result cross-country multilevel confirm existence (a) five attitudes (b) significant differences particular areas when assessing states’ involvement social policy adopted typology.
